Behavioral Health Counseling

Foothill Community Health Center is dedicated to providing a safe and confidential space for patients to obtain support through difficult transitions and challenges in life. It is our goal to offer compassion, education, and resource referrals that will cultivate and promote healthy lifestyles to individuals and families in our community.

Our Behavioral Health Staff

Our counseling staff is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate and culturally sensitive services to the diverse community of East and South San Jose. The on-site counseling team includes Associate Clinical Social Workers, Marriage Family Therapist Interns, and Licensed Marriage Family Therapists, who are supervised by licensed clinical supervisors.

Services offered by our Behavioral Health Department include:

Our mental health counseling includes services for children, who can be seen individually and in groups at no out-of-pocket cost. Individual adults can be seen on a sliding scale fee based on current income.

Groups/ Psycho-Education Classes:

  • Art of Friendship Camp: Social skills and expressive arts group for elementary aged children
  • All the World's a Stage: Psychodrama group that combines performing arts and counseling to support conflict resolution skills for middle school aged children

School-Based Counseling Services

Foothill Community Health Center has partnered with selected schools in the East Side Union High School District, Alum Rock Union School District, Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District, Rocketship Schools and Franklin-McKinley School District to provide on-site counseling services to their students at no out-of-pocket cost to the patients. The goal of the FCHC School-Based Counseling program is to help students cope with issues that affect their academic achievement and ability to be successful at school. We offer individual counseling services pertaining to:

  • Peer relations
  • Self-esteem
  • Behavioral problems
  • Social skills
  • Conflict resolution
  • Divorce
  • Grief and loss
  • LGBT youth support
  • Family conflict
  • Trauma

Our aim is to collaborate with school staff, families, and the FCHC Community Outreach team to provide comprehensive services and a unique plan of action to support every child’s needs.
